How do you reset a mac?

You can reset the firmware by turning off the Mac, unplugging all cords from it, waiting 15 seconds, and turning it back on.
You can reset the PRAM by turning it off, pressing the power button to turn it back on, quickly pressing and holding the Command+Option+R+P keys before the gray screen comes on, and holding those keys till you hear the startup sound for a second time.
To reset the entire installation of OS X, you can insert the install disk that came with the Mac, turn it off, hold down the "C" key, turning it on, and then you will be presented with different options.
