Normally, for any of the high-value european cars, the mechanic will have a hand held computer that plugs into the car's computer, which tells it that the inspections have been done on time and resets it with new dates. Some of these computers are avilable online.. but they're not necessarily legal. your best bet is to have a dealership do the reset. it's not expensive, can be done almost anywhere, and most importantly, will get rid of your headache.
