Just got off the phone with my local VW service tech - here are the steps:
1. Put key in ignition (do not turn)
2. Push in trip odometer button.
3. While hold in trip button, turn key to first click.
4. Let go of the trip button and push the minute button.
5. Hands off and turn off key.
6. Start car again - should be reset.
My husband just changed the oil in our 2009 VW Jetta - so I had the same question. Good luck.

You don't!
Go get it serviced.
You will need to take the 2006 Audi A6 to a mechanic to have the service light properly reset. In some cases, a person can undo the battery to reset the light.
I had the same issue. This worked for me. "With the doors closed put the key in the ignition. Hold down the trip odometer reset button. Turn the key to the on position. You will see the service indicator light (wrench). Press the minute adjustment button. Release the trip odometer reset button." I tried the same thing on my 2009 Jetta and it worked! (I have over 60,000 miles on it and opted to have the oil change and fuel filter done outside VW) When I left the Service Now still came on. So when I got home I ran a search and found the answer. Thank YOU!
2009 models can be reset using the centre display panel going to "car-settings" and just scrolling down, it will not alter the long life service, for that you need a scanning tool.

how do you reset the low tire pressure warning light on a 2009 camry
Change your oil. The light can be reset with a code reader by any mech & is usually done at time of service. On some cars, disconnecting batt. long enough will reset them, although sometimes come back on.
