You're not going to believe this, but it worked on my 4-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Insert ignition key. Turn one click. Press the right-hand button on the instrument panel -- the one just below the odometer, which you would normally use to track the miles of a particular trip. With that button still pressed down, turn the ignition key one more click -- not so that the car starts, but so that the radio could come on, etc., etc. Every light on the instrument panel should now light up, and all the instruments should run through a complex test pattern that you've never seen before. While that test pattern is still running, or perhaps just after it's finished, depress the gas pedal three times in rapid succession. Now start the car; the "change oil" message should be gone. You don't need to all that stuff to reset the indicator. The correct process to reset the oil change indicator system (after
performing the scheduled maintenance) is: 1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (Do not
start the engine).
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly three
times within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.
NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you
start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not
reset. If necessary repeat this procedure.
