The following are the lock picking instructions you requested from Samsonite Consumer Relations.
1. Position the luggage so that the numbers on the wheel are
right-side-up as they face you and set all three wheels to "0′.
2. Starting with the wheel on the left, to the right of the wheel,
look into the narrow space between the right side of the wheel and
the body of the lock. Look down into the shaft. (If you have a
safety pin, straight pin, or thin nail file, place that in the
narrow space.)
3. While looking down into the shaft, rotate the wheel slowly. You
are looking for an indentation (a square notch). When you find
the indentation, stop and write the number down. (If you are using
a tool, the tool will fall into the indentation.)
4. Follow the process for the remaining two wheels.
5. Try to open the piece of luggage.
6. If the luggage still will not open, please try the following:
a) If the number on the wheel is over 5, subtract 5 from the
number showing. For example, if the number showing is 8 turn
the wheel to 3 because 8-5=3.
b) If the number is under 5, add 5 to the number showing. For
example if the number showing is 2 turn the wheel to 7
because 2+5=7. The numbers showing on the wheels will be
your combination.
just worked for me... remember the + 5 - 5 part if it does not work first time.
hold the three nuber lock open while changing the numbers and then let it close again.
Each lock is going to use one of many different methods. More information is needed in order to answer this.
The locks are cheap-jimmying them will destroy- you have to use whatever tools necessary and write off the suitcase.

Samsonite luggage locks are similar to cheap locks on a gas cap and can be opened with a little time and patience. The only thing you will need for this project is a drill and a 1/8 inch drill bit. Place drill bit inside lock hole and apply plenty of pressure to cut the metal. Once you have reached the core of the lock hole it will disengage the locking mechanism.
Yes, it has a three number TSA approved combination lock.
maximum of 1000 combinations (10X10X10). Work with one lock and set it to read 000 . Count upward to 1000 by "ones". As you turn combination dial up with one hand, test if lock opens with other hand. Takes about 5 minutes and hopefully both locks are same combination.
Most airlines will cut the locks off your luggage.
To find luggage locks that are TSA approved can be tricky. The website www.corporatetravelsafety.com/tsa_luggage_locks.html offers SearchAlert luggage locks at decent prices that are all TSA approved.
Combination locks on suitcases are seldom more than 4 numbers long. It is therefore possible to crack them by simply trying every number between 0000 and 9999. Start at one need ans simply work to the other, at some point you will hit the correct combination - it just take a little time.
All Locks Have A Different Combination So There Inst One
To unlock a combination lock, you need the number combination. To use those, you go left, right, left to get the right numbers.
I think combination locks are safer since key locks are easy to break into with a knife or a ice prick to unlock the key lock.
This Hartmann lock is not as simple as resetting the other common 3 ring locks, such as on the Samsonite. There are 999 numbers you can try and it takes about an hour to go through all 999 numbers. Your case will be open then. If you want to pick the lock, you can get a razor blade and slide it between the wheels (left side) and feel for a notch while turning the number wheels. Once you have all three wheels aligned to the notch, just write down the numbers and rotate the entire wheel set around together until it opens.
