There is a little panel below the steering column with a reset button on it. You are supposed to get all the tire pressures right, then park the car on a level lot and turn the drive off. Hold the button in for six seconds and it should reset the system to be calibrated to your tire pressures. That's why you get them perfect first. If you just had a soft tire and pumped it up, the light should go out shortly after you get the tire right and drive a little. There's lots more on the subject in the owner's manual. It's worth a read.
