How do you rid fleas on newborn kittens?

Answer:
Kittens should not have fleas when newborns, however I have 6 one month old kittens and all have fleas except the mom. They were all born inside. Some say you should give them a bath in dawn dish soap or lemon soap, but this is incredibly dangerous to let very young kittens to come into contact with such harsh chemicals. If you must bathe them, just use warm water as kittens will go into hypothermia if they get too cold. If they are only a few weeks old or under don't give them a bath they might freeze before you can do anything as they cannot regulate their own body temperature. DO NOT DRY THEM WITH A HAIR DRYER!

Alternatively, combing them with a flea comb will help keep the fleas at bay for the short term. Tiny kittens can easily become anaemic from blood loss if the fleas are left on them. Most flea treatments recommend that kittens have to be 12 weeks old before using treatment because of the strong chemicals. Be sure to treat the house and nesting box by washing and changing towels every day.
