How do you make Minecraft mods?

You need Java Development Kit (JDK). Which you already have if you are playing minecraft. You need the Minecraft Coders Pack (to help look at the code for minecraft) and Eclipse, a program that lets you look at Java code in Class files in your minecraft.JAR. This code is what the game runs off of. From here I recommend going on the Forums and look at a tutorial for begginers. I did this too and I am on my way to releasing my first mod.

Download the mods from the Minecraft Forums. They will usually take you to a page with a "Skip Ad" button in the corner. Click that to get your mod.

To install, look up the mod on YouTube/Google. They will probably make a video on how to install it.

Installing mods into your Minecraft game takes some time to completely understand. In the most basic terms, you need to locate the minecraft.jar. (It is located in different locations per operating system.) After you find the minecraft.jar file, you extract it with an unzipping program like WinZip, then you insert the .class files you downloaded with the mod, then delete the Meta-Inf folder. After you do that, zip up the files again, rename the file minecraft.jar, put it back where it was and if you did it right your game will load the next time you click to play it.

There are several tutorials on Youtube and many modders put tutorials in the ReadMe file when you download their mods.

There are many video tutorials on Youtube and all across the internet, but if you ask YOU SHALL RECIEVE. If you use Windows 7 then this is how:

1. Download WinRAR or 7-Zip, this will is required as the Windows ZIP opener cannot open RAR files.
2. Download ur' mod.
3. Click on "Start" on the taskbar, then in the search box, put in, this will take you to the folder containing all of the Minecraft data.
4. Go into "bin" and you will see a file called "minecraft.rar", or just "minecraft".
5. Open the minecraft.rar with WinRAR or 7-Zip and drag all of the items you downloaded into it. You will be putting in things like .class files, gui folders, mob folders, etc.
6. Delete META-INF, this is Notch's signature he imprinted in the game. If you delete this Notch is not responsible for any errors or glitches you encounter with the mod. You cannot run the mod without deleting this folder.
7. Cross your fingers and run Minecraft!
