Hello
բարև (Barev) - informal
Բարև Ձեզ (Barev dzez) - formal
Goodbye
There are different ways to say this in Armenian, now keep in mind I will stick to Armenian even though many Armenians say things in Russian. The most formal way to say it is ցտեսություն (ts-tesutyun*), still in a more formal way you can say հաջողություն (hajoghutyun*), and informally you can say հաջող (hajogh*).
*The 'u' here is pronounced like the 'oo' in "goo". The 'j' just like the 'j' in "jump". The 'gh' in this case would be like the gutteral sound one makes when they hock a loogie.
The proper way to say thank you in Armenian is շնորհակալություն (shnorhakalutyun) [the u's in this word are pronounced like the "oo" in goo, and the 'ty' is pronounced with a soft breathy 'ts' sound like the 'ts' in the word Shots.] You can also say շնորհակալ եմ (shnorhakal em) meaning "I am thankful". Both are good. Hope this helps!!
The improper way to say thank you in Armenian is մերսի (mersi) [the i in this word sounds like the "ee" in bee.] Hope this helps!!
*note: մերսի isn't Armenian, it's French, but it's more commonly used in Armenia then շնորհակալություն considering it's much shorter :P
GO AWAY IN ARMENIAN COULD BE SPELLED IN TWO WAYS: 'HE-RA-TSIR' or 'KNAH'. =D
