Answer:
In the brackets I created at bracketman.com the 1 seed gets a bye and plays the winner of the 9 vs 8 match other 1rst round matches include 5 v 4, 3 v 6 and 2 v 7. The losers of these matches drop down into the losers bracket playing each other until everyone has been eliminated except a one loss winner of the losers bracket and the undefeated winner of the winners bracket.
Go to bracketman.com to download a pre-printed bracket for 3 to 13 teams. It auto-populates the seeds into their appropriate seeding spots when you enter the seeds. It's free and requires no registration.
Original seeding should be based on games won percentage of all games played within their class. In case of ties, the team with the least allowed hits is seeded higher. If there is still a tie then seed according to runs scored. If still tied, then you look at the same stats of the teams they've beaten.
In a 9 team tournament, first round should be (Highest seed being 1)
Game 1 = seed 9 vs seed 7
Game 2 = seed 8 vs seed 6
Game 3 = seed 5 vs seed 3
Game 4 = seed 4 vs seed 2
Game 5 = seed 1 vs winner of Game 1
Game 6 = winner of game 2 vs winner of game 4
Game 7 = winner of game 3 vs loser of game 1
Game 8 = loser of game 4 vs loser of game 2
Game 9 = loser of game 3 vs loser of game 6
and so on....by this time some teams will be eliminated.
There are many ways to do it...it's better shown on a graph.
