How do you text a UK number from an American cell phone?

When sending text messages to England you must use the country code i.e. 0044 and remove the first zero from the telephone number. Example - telephone number in England is 07745689, you will need to dial 00447745689.

you have to make sure you include the plus sign, which shows it's an international number, then the country code for UK, which is 44, and then the phone number. so it could be like +44... and then the phone number. but check to see how much it costs because international sms can be expensive! good luck, Texty Tasha :)

First of all, replace the trunk prefix 0 at the beginning of the UK mobile number with country code +44. For example, 07700 900123 becomes +44 7700 900123.

If you're on a GSM mobile phone, or other cell phone that allows entering numbers in full international format, you're all set. Just enter the number beginning with +44 (including the plus symbol).

Otherwise, replace the plus symbol with 011.

(The plus sign means "insert your international access prefix here." From a GSM mobile phone, you can enter the number in full international format, starting with the plus sign. The most common prefix is 00, but North America (USA, Canada, etc.) uses 011, Japan uses 010, Australia uses 0011, and many other countries use different prefixes.)
