You connect two or more computers with a switch. You will need a device to act as a DHCP server and probably a DNS server. If that all sounds over your head, you should probably call someone.
A home router will function as both DHCP and DNS server, and would set up the lan connection for you.
1. Turn off windows firewall and all other firewalls from both computers.
2. Go to Control panel->Network setup wizard. Fill in the information for both computers. When it asks for a workgroup put in "GAMING" for both computers. When this is completed it will ask you to restart the computer. Restart them real fast.
3. Once restarted go to Control panel->Network connetions. Right click on local area network and go down to properties. Scroll down in the items this connection uses box to internet protocol (TCP/IP). Click on that and click on the properties button. In the next dialouge box check the button that says use the following ip address. For the computer that is going to host the game set the ip as 192.168.0.1 and the subnet mask as 255.255.255.0. The other computer now sets his ip as 192.168.0.2 and his subnet mask as 255.255.255.0.
4. Start starcraft and go into multiplayer.
5. Click Local area network (UDP).
6. The host machine with the ip of 192.168.0.1 creates a match.
7. Once the match shows up in the match list click join.
8. Have fun playing starcraft over LAN!
by going into your computers settings....then smashing it up and letting all your rage out, that should let you connect. if it doesnt trying doing this to your WiFi and also your phone :)
The LAN port is not used for a dial-up connection. A modem is used for a dial-up connection.
There are several very technical steps an individual must take to set up a LAN Network. These steps can be found on webpages like Mine Craft Forum and Do It Yourself: Set up LAN.
The type of network your asking about is called a VPN (Virtual Private Network) or a VLAN (Virtual LAN). A VLAN acts like an ordinary LAN, but connected devices don't have to be physically connected to the same segment. LogMeIn Hamachi lets you setup a virtual LAN connection on both PCs and Macs through the internet. The software is free for non-commercial use, never expires, and will let you set up your virtual LAN connection in less then 10 minutes.
If you mean switching LAN cables when the connection is active, then the answer is yes.
It depends under which context you intend to create a Lan connection. If you want to have a "Lan party" where you and a bunch of friend all play the same game, then there is no definite answer. You will have to Google "Lan connection <insert game name>". If you are talking about Lan in just a general, networking, like connecting to internet sense, then you need a router and an Ethernet cable. You then connect the Ethernet cable to the router and then to your computer. Or you can set up a Wi-Fi connection with your router. Your question is far too vague, so I cannot give a more straightforward answer. If you would like, you can contact me directly at JasonTheSager@live.com
The first XBOX has a (Cat) LAN Connection and a wireless addon. The first XBOX 360 has a (Cat) LAN Connection and a wireless addon. The first XBOX SLIM has a (Cat) LAN Connection and built-in wireless.
You need a LAN connection, then go under LAN tab.
what is the fastest download manager?? my internet connection is LAN. there fore this software must be support for proxy.
no need of telephone line for LAN networking. for LAN we ethernet card and other networking devices like hub, switch. for internet connection u need telephone line A Lan is a shared network of multiple systems. You can have a LAN which does not have Internet access and only supports Print/File Sharing. You need one router to assign IP addresses using DHCP and if more connection are required, just add switches. To give the LAN Internet access, you need an ISP connection and a modem. The existing router then connects to the modem. The ISP connection (today 2008) can be DSL, FiOS (over a phone line) or Cable. A dial-up connection can be shared on a LAN, but today that is a very poor choice and would not be connected as described above.

Step 1: invite your friends over Step 2: have a switch set up in the middle of the room Step 3: have everyone connect to the switch Step 4: Start partying! You may want to add a router connection to the switch if you need outside (i.e. Internet) connectivity.
