1: best thing to do is go to a mountain/resort, rent a snowboard and take some lessons

2: watever u do don't take lessons sniwboarding is about learnin g the way YOU ride not the way the stupid patrol people ride. so go out there and discover how u ride

3: Get lessons when you are learning, you will improve ten times as fast, and it will be much less frustrating than taking it on on your own. Your own style will develop once your better, confident and riding in places and with people you want to.
