I have an old pre-Poulan Weedeater brand string trimmer that requires the following steps:
1. Fill gas tank with 40:1 gas/oil mixture
2. Make sure switch is OFF and choke is on full
3. Pull starter 10-15 times (this primes the carburetor; other engines usually have a rubber primer bulb that needs to be pressed about 3 times)
4. Turn switch on and set choke at 1/2.
5. Pull starter to start engine. Let run 15-30 seconds before turning off choke
