You put the key in the ignition and turn, you don't need a fob in order to start a car.
Hold the key fob next to the start button.
No, You do not need a key fob to start a car. When starting a car, you put the key in the ignition and turn. Power comes from car battery, not from the key fob battery!
Weak battery in fob?
No it doesn't.
Get in touch with a Rover dealer, tell them the problem, they can find out the code for your lock on the door. That way you will not need your fob to open the doors or immobilise it.
You have what is called a "fob" It must be close to or inside the car, say maybe 8 feet or so from car. The radio code that it uses is encrypted and code hops for security reasons. As long as the fob is in place and your foot is on the brake you can push the button to start or if running to stop.
Find out what type of battery the fob takes, and then replace it. If you are in the middle of nowhere, then i dont know.
the flashing security light in the dash is not flashing and vehicle will not start
put the car in reverse, start the car, and pour gasoline in the anti-freeze container
On a fob, there are multiple buttons, one of those buttons unlocks the car. Another one of them locks the car. One of the buttons pops the trunk and the last button turns on or off the alarm. On more advanced models the radio frequency fob can also be used to open the trunk or even remotely start the vehicle. My current one allows me to lock, unlock, remote start, open back hatch, open back window and alarm.
