IF you have a premium account you cant delet minecraft.jar on bin folder ad wene you run the game again you will download automaticly a new minecraft jar boom no crash bat your mods will be destroyed
Give it more RAM. You can buy more RAM, or you can allocate more memory for it to run. Minecraft is written in Java, which means you'd have to type in the path where Java is located to allocate more memory.
Allocating more memory to Java: (From the Minecraft Forums)
1. Open Control Panel
2. Find 'Java' in the Control Panel. (Or you can type it in the 'Search Control Panel' box.)
3. Click the Java icon.
4. Click the Java tab.
5. Click View...
6. Assure there is only ONE line in here, any more lines could cause issues, If you have multiples lines, uninstall all versions of Java from your system and... download Java JDK 7 from the related link.
Make sure you get the x64 version if you have a 64-bit OS.
7. Change Runtime Parameters: -Xincgc -Xmx(XXX)M
Where XXX = The amount of RAM you need, in Megabytes.
768 is enough for 32-bit operating systems.
1 - 2 Gigabytes should be enough for 64-bit systems.
8. Click OK.
9. Restart your system, not necessary, but optional.
11. PROFIT. Minecraft should not crash as much, or blackscreen.
Mods also cause much lag and memory spikes. In this case, don't install to many mods.
Reopen it is the first try.
Second is check in application support to make sure that the bin and saves folder are there. In the bin there should be a minecraft.jar file. If you have mods installed then you might want to make sure that they are compatible with each other. I hope this helps!
If you are suffering from frequent crashes, a simple thing to do would be lowering your render distance.

Try to reinstall Minecraft.
Minecraft uses a load of memory! (For me, it's 989 MB of RAM) You should probably close Minecraft if you're using Skype at the same time.
When you start up the Minecraft Launcher, above 'Log In' is 'Settings'. In the Settings, select 'Force Update', then 'Done'. It will re-download the minecraft.jar, wiping any changes you have made to it.
One of the Minecraft files that are required to start it may be corrupted. Uninstall and reinstall Minecraft and see if that fixes it.

in my experience, HP is easier to jailbreak and to bootload Minecraft at a stable 60 fps
Fix your Java, for example if you have a 32bit pc, use 32java, if you have a 64bit pc, use java 64 bit, or clean out your cache and memory, minecraft needs to have good performace and good backup space (~1 GB)
I'm not experienced with other things, but pretty sure Chromebook is still a PC. Yes, it can download mods, like regular PCs.
It shouldn't now the newest update should stop any crashing
