What kind of clay are you using? I have used cornstarch as a separator or Talc powder (e.g. when using a sprig mould)
Also if there are any in-cuts in your plaster it will grab the clay causing it to stay stuck inside the mould.

As you can tell my technical knowledge is terrible!! it is called rocco red and on the label says bisque fire 1000C and glaze fire. has this told you anything??? my impression is just a handprint.
Not sure if i was supposed to anwser here, but couldnt see where else to!!
