What to do when your hamster is missing fur?

Often as hamsters get older it is natural for them to loose a little bit of fur,usually behind the ears. If the hamster is only a puppy then you may need to see the vet as the hamster could be ill. Sometimes when a hamster is stress it can also loose fur. Stress can be caused by the sudden change in temperature. Such as sudden cold coming on in Winter. You should also check that the hamster is getting 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark. So make sure the cage is positioned correctly for this.

Take away hard surfaces in his/her cage or add soft surfaces because, when hamsters rub against hard surfaces their hair falls out. It's not a problem when hamsters loose hair after a few years. It's normal when he/she turns older.
