Do you mean Geraniums or Pelargoniums. Geraniums are hardy herbaceous plants and should not need to be stored. Pelargoniums are tender plants and need protection in winter. If they are in pots take them inside and keep them frost free, they need very little water while they are almost dormant. To be safe take some cuttings now to increase the chance of success. If they are in the ground lift them cut the tops back to about 4 inches trim the roots and put in a pot water once and leave in shelter as with the pot ones and shorten back further when you see the new buds shooting.
YES! If you take the plant out of the pot and take all the soil out of the plant and the roots & hang the plant up side down preferably in the cellar you can re-plant it the following spring. It grows beautifully.
As pelargoniums are not frost hardy the plants should be lifted, if in the ground, the roots and top growth trimmed back and potted into a pot large enough to take the roots. Water once to settle the compost and keep in a frost free place, not hot, until spring and then treat normally after fear of frost is over.
Make sure to bring them inside and next to a window. Shouldn't need to water as much as you do during summer/fall.
