Miniature turtle? That doesn't really tell us anything about the species...there is no such type of turtle as a "miniature turtle". Turtle species all have very unique needs. My advice is to find a reptile forum and ask your questions there, and perhaps include photos so that you may identify its species and care for it properly.

There is no such thing as a 'Penny turtle,' it's just a term given to different species of turtle that were sold in pet shops and department stores in the 70's.

A large turtle should be fed every three to five days so be careful not to over feed. The diet should consist of worms, insect larvae, water snails, freshwater prawns, freshwater mussels and crickets.

Also, make sure the aquarium has something that protrudes out of the water so the turtle may leave the water to bask or dry out. Turtles are air breathing animals and are likely to drown.

Though many pet stores claim to have 'miniature turtles' while there is really no such thing. Most of the so called 'miniature' turtles are in fact baby sliders or cooters.
