I just went through the ordeal of getting the metal tab off of the mirror for my 1994 Chevy S-10, so if yours is anything like mine, here's how to get that sucker off: Insert a small enoughstandard screwdriver into the rectangular slot in the bottom of the mounting bracket. Inserting it straight back, simultaneously push with the screwdriver against the piece of metal that it will touch and press against the metal tab in the opposite direction (the one it needs to go in to come out of the bracket) until it comes off. Once you get it off you may be chagrined when you see the simplicity with which it was kept in there ;)
