How do you teach infants how to swim? |
[Edit] |
This is a highly controversial subject. Because of the safety concerns, we cannot provide you with instructions on how to teach your infant to swim on your own. Related Links below will have different sources on how to do this, but use at your own risk, and use caution.
Before even thinking about teaching your infant to swim, you or whoever will be with your child, should be well-versed in CPR techniques, as well as know how to deal with drownings. It would also be a good idea that this person is certified and/or to have a certified lifeguard somewhere nearby.
You should remember that the goal of all this is to be a bonding and fun experience for you and your baby foremost, and then to get your baby used to (not fearful of) water. It should not be approached with the goal of hoping that you will be able to teach your baby how to save his or her life in case he rolls into water because he did not have your full attention.
Never forcefully submerge your baby's head under water, even if he or she demonstrates that he or she is able to hold their breath.
