I have no idea how but try teaching him to use a rope. Here are some steps you can try and follow but i don't know if they will work!

1. Throw a rope/ball on your lawn.
2. Coax your dog to go fetch it by standing next to the rope with your dog's favourite treat or his/her favourite toy. Make sure you never hit the dog or discourage him in this time or EVER!
3. Once your dog has fetched the rope/ball coax him to the spot you want the newspaper with another dog treat. You've done it!
