I'm pretty experienced in this area, and this has worked many times for me so good luck! Just tell her that you want to stay friends and by becoming something more should things not work out you don't want to lose what you already have. By letting her know that you don't hate her or making her think that she is unattractive by being rude about it, you can still keep her happy but let her know that you aren't interested. Oh and word to the wise, DO NOT go off and have a whinge to your mates about it, because if no one else really knows that she likes you and then they find out it could get REALLY bad for her!
