Backfire. Hard starts or no starts.
I would pull the #1 plug and then rotate the motor until # 1 was top dead center then remove the distributor cap and see if the rotor was pointing to #1 wire spot on the cap if it is not then your engine has jumped time
Worn timing chain.
Highly doubtful, the engine has a timing chain and the ignition relies on a crank sensor for timing. But if the chain did jump you could probably tell by doing a compression test.
WHAT SIZE IS YOUR MOTOR AND I CAN TELL YOU
All motors are different, need to know the make ,year and what size motor to tell where to set the timing.
Separate issue, if you need too set the timing following a timing belt change or belt slippage then you have to set the mechnical timing of the motor. Go buy a Chilton or Haynes manual which will tell you where the marks are and you can properly set the timing before starting the motor.
No. A worn timing chain or belt would cause timing to jump.
Not sure which motor you have but none offered in the full size vans would have a belt. It would be a timing chain and they will usually last the life of a motor as they are internally lubricated by the engine oil of the motor. I have never heard of a broken timing chain under normal use. Usually they get stretched and can become noisy and/or jump a tooth and cause the motor to loose correct timing and run bad or not start.
sorry i cant understand your question. But i am guessing you mean what is the timing jump? WEll it is a type of jump! daaa by lilianna Simpson
It is synced to the crankshaft with a scan tool. It can not be done with a timing light.
Why would a timing belt jump time and cause damage to the cylinder heads ?
what are the timing marks on a chev 305 motor for the year 1995.
most commely you will have excessive noise from the chain. i suppose it is possible for timing to jump with excessive slack, but in my experience( master bmw tech. ) i have never seen any timing chain problems. good luck.
