if you dip it in water and it does not rust then it is real, if it is gold plated then it is not real because it has just been dipped in gold some sort of gold liquid and normally the shiny-ness and the colour of the gold is a dead give away, so the shinier it is the more you can tell that it is fake gold but the duller the shine the more gold it has in it, in-case i'm wrong though, it may be wise to check with a professional jeweller. hope this helped!

You put it in clorox for 30 min. if it turns black its fools gold, or you can put it on a blazin fire and if its fake it will melt.
