Berry carefully!

Ok, but SERiously, folks: the MOST SUCCESSFULtransplants occur when the plant/tree in question is is in a dormant or semi-dormant state. For the very deliciousstrawberry, this occurs after fruition, and just before the growth cycle begins.

THAT information is available from whatever county you live in, call the main office and talk to Pearl (or whoever). She (or he) will direct you to the proper county office, every time. They ARE good, they are...

SO! Disturbing the root system as little as possible (at the start of it's growth cycle), move your very favorite wild (some say volunteer) plant to your protected environment, and give it 24 hours a day, continuous light for at least two weeks.

THEN you put it in the outdoor grounds. I like to surround individual newcomers with a one-foot-tall opaque white plastic windbreak, using grape-stakes (1X2s)20 inches long, rooted 6 inches deep for stability.

Growth fertilizer, proper watering, and sweet-talking do the rest. Good luck!
