Open sores can be traumatic, infectious or neoplastic in origin - the age and temperment of the individual dog will put these three in order of likelihood. Regardless of cause, an open sore that is not healing should be seen by a veterinarian for treatment.

Sores on dogs legs can be from many things. Depending on how bad it is depends on if they need to see a vet, clean the wound with alcohol or peroxide. If using peroxide make sure they do not ingest any as they will vomit. Then put antibiotic ointment and a wrap over the wound and repeat through out the day.
