How do you treat severe lymphedema in both lower legs and feet?

[Edit]
Supervised by Itamar Medical
The first important thing to do is to find out why you have severe lymphedema in both lower legs and feet. If it was only on one side, then there would be a less likely chance that another pathology would be involved, and lymphatic drainage massage may be helpful in that case. Since both legs and feet are affected there is a very likely cause that is more serious and would require medical intervention. If a person has a COPD, like chronic bronchitis or emphysema, then the lungs are under pressure because they cannot allow blood to flow freely through them. This causes back-pressure in the right side of the heart. And, since the right side is backed up, the blood and lymph trying to move up the body is impeded. I strongly recommend seeing a primary care provider to determine the cause of your lymphedema.
