When I went to the Docs with my daughters HFM, I was told no treatment available. But on taking my daughter to the hospital from suspected meningitis the hospital recommended I use difflam spray on it. My daughter had v bad mouth ulcers ranging from her tongue to throat. She couldn't swallow without crying and food and drink out of the question. She suffered 3 days before being told of this spray. This spray was brilliant. I used it that same evening, and by morning (after spraying again) she was able to drink and eat again. It's really annoying that these products r available to help but the Docs don't prescribe or tell u about them.
Medications like acetaminophen or ibuprofen may be helpful for decreasing pain, and allowing the child to eat and drink. It is important to try to encourage the child to take in adequate amounts of fluids
