You take out the battery, then put it back in....the lens will still be out but press the power button ( this turn on the camera again) then you press it again to turn it off

What you will need to do is look on the arrow keys, there should be a flash symbol on the up key. Press it and the flash mode menu will come up. Use the arrow keys to highlight the flash symbol with the crossed out circle on it. This will turn the flash off.

You could be hitting the flash feature on the turn signal arm when you use it.

I had a similar problem with my nikon coolpix s550. very simple fix really... the card was originally formatted as FAT32. What i had to do is format it as ntfs then when i inserted it into the phone it asked me if i wanted to format it. i clicked yes and voila I'm good to go. but just remember to copy your sh*t off the card then you can re-transfer it back once its ready to go
You just put it down. About 30 seconds after you take your finger off the shutter button, it goes off by itself.

I didn't see how old this question is, but it doesn't have a flash. The spot that looks like a flash is an LED support light, and you press the right arrow to turn it on and off.
