There should be a little speaker icon in the lower right of you screen, next to the time. You can click this to get a sound adjustment bar. If you are having problems locating this, you can go to Start -> Control Panel, then click on Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices. There should be an option there for "Adjust the system volume."

If you mean that the volume on your computer doesn't work:

Know what is your sound driver model. For example: VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio (WAVE).

Then, you have to search for the installation for that sound driver. Afterward, the volume can work on your computer.

* If you don't know what is your sound driver model, I suggest you to use a free software to use it as a detection for your drivers.

If you mean that you need to edit the volume to lower/higher:

Go to Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices.

Go to Device Volume, and you can scroll it to lower or higher as you wish.

If you can't use it, then your sound driver needs to be installed on your computer, as I said before.

Speaker power/connections: Many speakers use external power to power the device. If there is a power button, and it sticks out a ways, press it in until it is fully depressed. If there is just a knob, try turning it clockwise. In either case, a green light would usually light up if it has power. Also check the plug going to the wall, if there is one. If there's a place to plug in a power cord on the back of the speakers, and nothing is plugged in there, you may need to replace it. Finally, make sure the speakers are plugged into the back of the computer in the "audio out" port (usually green, but you may need to consult your computer's manual).

Speaker volume: Some speakers have a knob. If so, try turning the knob to the right to increase the volume.

System volume: Most operating systems have a "speaker" icon in the lower- or upper-right section of the screen called the "notification tray" or "system tray". Click on this to bring up the volume controls. Try moving the slider up or to the right, or toggling the "mute" button. If your speaker controls are missing, you may need to install a driver for your sound card, or check device manager to re-enable the sound card.

System mixer volume: Some new systems allow you to control an application's volume individually. In the aforementioned system volume window, look for a "mixer" option. Your program may be muted or have its volume turned down.

Application volume: Many programs designed to play sound can control their output. Check your user manual for details on how to configure the application.

Multimedia keys: These keys may be separate keys on the keyboard, such as Vol- Vol+ and Mute, or with icons (such as a speaker with an X covering it, a speaker with a single curved line next to it or multiple lines curved into the speaker, and a speaker with a multiple curves facing away from the speaker icon). Other systems may have them combined with other keys, such as F10-F12. In this case, the print will be blue, meaning you need to press and hold then Fn buttons to adjust the volume.

In short, there are a ton of ways that you may need to use to adjust your volume. If things were working right, and they are not now, you may have some defective hardware. Try asking your local computer nerd for assistance.
