You get a stray piggle first from a quest to go to pet pavilion.Then you could go to the shopping district to sell the piggle and buy a different pet.I prefer a dragon.

i Tried going in pet pavilion but i just learned you cant you need to be level 10 wizard or higher to be able to get in there! Well good luck!
