MAC codes are only valid for a short period of time and most networks in the UK charge a £15 transfer fee, which usually cannot be avoided. Most networks however, don't charge for keeping your number and moving it to a new network provided the MAC code has been paid for. If your MAC code expires and you have not transferred to a new network you will have to apply for another one from your current supplier and they will also re-charge you another £15 per MAC code they have to issue.
