How do you update from Android 1.5 to 2.1 on your HTC Hero?

If you are in the US the update has been released for Sprint.
As I am from Europe i do not know the install process but I think it is over the air.
The update should be released in Europe within a couple of week(end of June). Again this update is over the air.
A trick is to move the phone's date a month ahead to trigger the update dialog...
