Most digital cameras will have a Micro-B USB slot, to which they can be connected to a PC using an appropriate USB cable. The PC will then be able to open the camera's memory card as if it were a removable storage medium, you can copy the pictures to your hard drive.

If the camera has no USB port, then you will need a card reader, a USB device that you can insert the camera's memory card into.

All cameras are different, but there are two common ways it is done.

  1. Take the SD card (or whatever saves the pictures in your camera) out of your camera, and insert it into the SD drive or into whatever device it should be placed into. Then, for a PC, open up "my computer." One of the extra drives is the newly added SD card, and you now have the pictures on the computer. Copy them like you would other files from one directory to another.

2. Connect your camera with the USB cable that came with it. So the USB connection from the Camera goes into the USB port of your desktop. Turn on your camera and set it to the mode you use to view the pictures stored on it.

The Camera should be recognized by the desktop like another disk drive.

If all else fails, read the directions that came with the camera. If you have lost them, they are are probably available on-line. Do a Google search for your make and model of camera.

USB

A USB cable lets you connect your digital camera to your computer. Almost all digital cameras come with a USB cable. Just plug one end into the camera and the other into the computer.

Once you've plugged the cable into the computer, software already installed on your computer may assist you with getting the photos off your camera.

If you plug your camera into your computer and nothing happens, don't worry. Your computer can read your camera as if it's another drive on your computer.

Memory Card

Some newer computers come with a slot for memory cards or a cable with a reader. You simply insert your digital camera's memory card into the computer or reader and your computer will recognize the card and ask where you'd like to save your photos. We recommend placing them in a folder in the My Pictures folder so you can find them easily.

Docking Station

Your camera may come with a docking station, or a station can be purchased if your camera is compatible. The docking station is plugged into your computer and situated on your desk to make connecting your camera to your computer a little easier.

Finding Your Camera On the Computer

If you're using Windows:

1.Go to My Computer and you should see your camera listed.

2.Double-click on the icon.

3.Go to Edit then to Select All. This will select all the photos on your camera.

4.Go to Edit then to Copy to Folder.

5.Choose a folder to place these in. We recommend putting it into the My Pictures folder so you can find them easily.

If you're using a Mac:

1.An icon of your camera should appear on your desktop.

2.Double-click on the camera icon.

3.Highlight the contents of the folder and drag them into the folder where you'd like to save your photos.

Sadly if you have one of the older cameras that use film you can't place the pictures on the computer. The only way is to print them at a store then using a scanner to make the picture digital.

In order to upload pictures from your camera chip to your PC, you must use the memory card stored OR the USB that comes with it. Plug it into your computer and you then may import all of your photos/videos.

You have to get a usb adaptor that will allow you to plug your memory chip in. It looks like a little highlighter. Or you can get a digital camera that has wifi.

How do you download photos from camera to my PC?

This really depends on what kind of camera that you have. Some you need a USB cord that plugs into your USB drive, and it will assist you when you need to upload them. These instructions, again, depend on your camera and PC model. If you have a camera that uses a data chip, it would plug into the K drive of your computer, which is usually below the USB drive (it is on mine.) It would look like a thin, long plug that is on the side of your computer that would look like the side that you plug the chip into. Again, this depends on your PC, camera, and your method of uploading the pictures.

You install the software bundled with your digital camera to download pictures from your camera to your system using a serial port Next you plug up the camera to the port using a serial cable and tu?

Turn it on? There are, of course other ways to get the pictures from the camera to your system (assuming that your 'system' is a PC), and that is to take out the SD card (normally near the battery compartment, but it maybe somewhere else), and insert it into a PC card reader. If your PC doesn't have one of these, then you can pick them up relatively cheaply these days. Failing that, then do what you've already posted. Good luck!
