cmd.exe allows you to use command line for virtually whatever you want. You can use ipconfig command if you want to see information about your network adapters.
Start->Run->cmd, press Enter. type in the cmd window ipconfig.
Most of the common commands used are for navigating the file system, it is possible to do some harm to the system if the commands are not executed correctly.
