How do you use a gameshark code for visual boy advance on your mac OS x?

I do not have an answer but I am also interested in step by step instructions on how to put GameShark cheats into the box. Is it one line per field or one entire code in a field? I have tried it many ways and I still cannot get it to work. I am using VBA 1.7.4 on Mac OSX trying to play Pokemon Silver.
