Chortle is a snorting type of laugh.
When she heard a funny joke, Leslie would chortle and make the rest of us laugh!
The boy suppressed a chortle when his teacher sat in the glue. (The word
chortle can be substituted for
laugh.) You could change it to
chortled, and write a sentence using it to substitute
laughed, e.g.
