You need to use an application that makes use of the webcam. There should be an application bundled on the desktop that you can use to record from it, and many Flash games can also use a webcam.

at the top of the screen there is an arrow. Click it. You should see E sharing. click it. E-CAM is the only option. Click that. Begin. If you have any problems look in your owners manual.
Plug the webcam into a USB socket, turning it on if necessary, and launch the software you wish to use. There is usually an option to set the Video Source or Video Input which should show you camera...
this isn't an apple computer but you need more info on your OS. in 7 just type in webcam in the start menu and iunno about xp. should be same for vista
