To welcome guests it is called a 'Receiving line' and the bride; groom; parents of the bride and groom; maid of honor; bridesmaids; best man and ushers are also lined up in the Receiving Line. Guests file by and congratulate the happy couple. Most couples simply have the MC thank everyone for coming or the bride and groom can stand up and thank everyone for coming (naming those that had to take a long trip to get to the wedding) and raise their glasses to the guests.
