Lost door pin and broken weld on top door hing on 1995 Jeep Cherokee Any repair suggestions?

The door hinges on the Jeep Cherokee are welded to the door pillar. I had mine break so I took it to a body repair shop, who had to remove the front mudguard align the door and re weld the hinge back on.

How do you change the door hinges from the origanal weld on type to the replacement bolt on type on a 1996 s10?

BIG JOB! The welds have to be drilled out to remove the original hinges. The door side hinge half can be installed thru the inside of the door by removing the door panel. The post side hinge halfs are very difficult. The entire dash assembly needs to be removed to gain access to the upper hinge half.

How do you replace Door Hinge 1994 Chevrolet C1500 Silverado 8-cylinder 5.7L Is it bolted or glued?

The hinges are spot welded in 4 places. There are detents on each spot weld for drilling. Use a 1/2 inch bit and drill out the spot welds, then the hinge is supposed to come off. The new hinge should come with bolts and a back plate. I'm in the middle of this right now. With the 2 forward spots, the fender is partially blocking for drilling. I still don't have one of them drilled enough for the hinge to separate. Good luck!

If your driver side door is loose and you have to slam it to close how do you tighten it up to make it like the passenger side?

Have someone lift and shake the door while you watch the hinges to see if they are loose. If the hinge pins are worn, the door will sag and make it difficult to close. You also may need to replace the nylon bushing on the door strik pin if there has been too much weight when the door closes. The strike pins can be replaced but if you haven't already done one, you might want to have someone help you or do it for you. It happened to me. If you open the door, lift up and down on the bottom of the door to see if it loose where the door hinge is bolted to the fender. If it loose where it is bolted to the fender, you will need to tighten the bolts. If the nuts are stripped in the fender, take it to the body shop. What was stripped in my door was the nuts inside the fender that the bolts went into. You could just have a stripped bolt. I had the choice of taking off the whole fender to fix it or weld the door hinge tho the fender. I chose to have the body shop weld the hinge (much cheaper). They did a perfect job welding the hinge so the door fit and matched perfect. I bought the car used and the fit was better that when I bought it.

How do you fix a sagging door on a GMC Jimmy?

Answerput new door pins in it and if that dont work the get someone to realign it for you. AnswerYou can purchase a door Pin and bushing kit at your local auto parts. That should fix you up. More than likely, What you have is the Weld coming apart from the body frame. Check : With the door open, try to watch the seam where the hinge braket meets the body frame, You will probably see a crack opening while you lift up the open door. The weld has failed, just like on both my doors.

How do you change the hinge pins and bushings on the drivers door of a Chevrolet 1500 truck?

you would need to weld new ones on. I own a 1991 Chevy truck with sagging door. here was the cheap fix. put a block of wood 2x4 2x6 under back of door while open jack the door up with floor jack go slowly watch you don't bent bottom of door jack enough to slightly bend hinges up ,do it small steps so as not to break hinges. In between steps lower door and check fit. Also lower striker plate on door frame .this fix my problem

Chevy Tahoe rear lift gate window repair?

I just repaired mine with JB Weld. How I did it? 1st take the lift gate window off and put it on a flat surface. Next use a high speed drill with a wire wheel to take off all of the old epoxy from the area immediately around where the hinge connects to the window and the hinge itself. You will see 6 filled in holes in the hinge....use a drill to drill out the old epoxy. This will give more surface area for the JB Weld to adhere to. Mix the JB Weld (Original JB Weld...not JB Quick) and apply a coat to the window and to the hinge. Set the hinge into the area where it broke from. Use some nylon thread to strengthen the JB Weld...by running 4 inch piece across the JB Weld. Let the JB Weld set for 24 hours atleast! Put the lift gate back on your vehicle. I did this about a week ago....so far so good! Much better than spending a $1000 to replace it!!!! If you have questions email me at spkynav@gmail.com and I will do my best to help. It looks like quite a few of us are having this problem.

How do you keep the paint from burning off the fender and door when welding a broken fuel door hinge?

I would try to use small tack welds all the way around the latch if I had to weld it...but my advice is to hold the fuel door in place, or have someone hold it for you, and then drill two small holes through the hinge and into the body of the car, and screw two small metal screws into place. If the heads of the screws are getting in the way, you can grind them down with a small rotary tool or likewise to where about 1mm is left of the screw, and that should solve your problem.
