Fluocetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor or SSRI. This means that is prevents the reuptake of serotonin( a chemical involved with caused depression ) and has little effect on norepinephrine. It has fewer side effects than some of the older antidepressants. It is important to keep in mind that fluoxetine should not be used with alcohol to avoid adverse effects.
