No, the greenhouse effect keeps the earth warm enough for life, and has for millions of years.

The enhanced (or accelerated) greenhouse effectwhich we have now is causing global warming and climate change. Climate change will give extra energy to storms and other weather events, but will do nothing to earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions.

The greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon. The earth needs a greenhouse effect to keep some of the heat from the sun, so that the earth is at a comfortable temperature for life to continue.

However, human activity has been contributing to the natural greenhouse condition to a critical extent. Since we started to seriously burn coal and other fossil fuels about 200 years ago, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has increased. As the population of the world increases there is huge demand for meat, so more and more cattle and sheep are bred. Methane is a serious greenhouse gas, much more dangerous than carbon dioxide, and animals that ruminate (chew the cud), like cattle and sheep, belch out vast amounts of methane.

Most climate scientists now think it is too late to prevent a global temperature rise of 2 degrees Celsius, and are forecasting a rise of between 3 and 5 degrees. This will be catastrophic for our planet.

Some natural disasters could be caused by global warming, but others are totally unrelated events.

So, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and tsunamis are natural disasters entirely unrelated to global warming.

Although no one weather event can be attributed directly to global warming, prolonged droughts, more frequent severe floods and intense storm activity are consistent with predictions about global warming. Similarly, beach erosion and coastal inundation can be the result of rising sea levels and increased storm surges that result from global warming.

Most natural disasters like hurricanes, flood, drought, etc are linked to global warming and they get frequent every year. With warmer oceans, more and strong hurricanes can form. Volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis aren't linked to global warming because they aren't atmospheric activity, they are linked to plate tectonics.

Why are so many natural disasters occurring in 2010?

Some of the natural disasters are occurring due to global warming, when the temperature rises it is more likely to get tropical storms and tornadoes, the others are just natural occurrences due to movement in the earths crust.

Can Neptune get global warming?

Global warming is not natural, it is caused by people. Since there aren't people on Neptune, it cannot have global warming.

How do natural disasters contribute to global warming?

More water goes in the ocean, and the earth isn't as cold. So hurricanes happen more often, like Hurricane Sandy for example. Extra warmth in the atmosphere is extra energy which has to go somewhere!
