The main features, truths, beliefs of a Christian churches are: The redemption and atonement of Jesus Christ the Son of God, and, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The first - the greatest event in the history of the world - is the redemption of man from the fall of Adam, and the atonement (payment) of the sins of mankind. The second is the word of God to teach people the law and lead them in righteous paths, and prepare them to meet our Heavenly Father in purity of heart, mind and soul. The Gospel of Jesus Christ can be expressed in two great commandments: Thou shalt love thy God with all thy heart, mind, body and soul; And the second; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thou lovest thyself. "And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent." Mosiah 3:17.

You may find in a christian church a pulpit where a priest conducts his service or a table for preaching called a lectern. You may find an altar for mass. You certainly will find pews, which are basically seats/benches. Possibly you'll see a font for a Christening service and some stained glass windows. You could also see a tabernacle that holds the holy communion. There may also be orthodox icons, which a are big pictures made from fabric. But you may not necessarily see all these features in the same church. This is because there are many different types of Christians. For example an Anglican, Protestant or a Catholic. These different types of Christians have different types of churches.

The central feature of a Christian church is almost always the cross - all the worshipers face the cross, and it is placed at the architectural "center of interest". This is done in honor of Jesus Christ, who alone is head of the Church.

The church buildings reflect the purpose for which they are built.

The largest are for worship services. On one end there is a place for someone to speak. This place is facing the seats of the people who come to listen.

There is often a special place for the choir to sit and stand when they will sing. There may also be an organ or piano near there to accompany the singers.

There should be offices and perhaps classrooms along hallways for church use.

Depending on the size, there may be washrooms, kitchens, closets, and other utility rooms. The people sitting and listening often are facing the far wall behind the speaker. This wall is often decorated with pictures, either painted or of stained glass depicting stories of Christ's life.

The colors are light and calming, with lighting that is indirect and soothing.

The walls often have wood paneling and the floors often have walkways of carpet.

The design is inviting and peaceful.
