Kookaburra eggs are incubated for around 24-29 days before hatching, depending on the species. For the first thirty days after hatching, both parents take it in turns to keep the young chicks warm while their partner goes off to hunt for food to bring back to the nest. It takes the young chicks between 8 and 13 weeks to get all their feathers, and they are continually looked after by both parents. When the young ones are fully grown, they stay with the parents to form a family social group, all of whom help to defend their territory.
the male is the sole custodial parent doing all the child raising
an ostrich keeps its young in a nest and that's how an ostrich cares for its young
There does not appear to be a name specific to a young Ostrich according to Wikipedia. A female is called a "hen," and a male is called a "cock." It would appear to be appropriate to call a young Ostrich a chick, however I can find no evidence to support it. Baby ostriches are called chicks.

No an ostrich looks like its parents
An ostrich is a bird, not a mammal, and does not nurse its young. Therefore they are never weaned. However, young ostrich chicks stay with their parents for several months after leaving the nest. The males will often teach the chicks how to hunt for food.
