a full moon can make a big difference depending on what your fishing for. for instance if your fishing for wahoo or spawning marlin a full moon can be one of the best times of the month to catch them depending on tides and moonrise/moonset times and weather conditions ie right before or after a storm can be really amazing fishing.

Yes. But it depends on other factors, such as species of fish, location and underwater structures. In Australia, and other places I suspect, many anglers believe that some predatory fish can be targeted more effectively at night during the full moon, due to enhanced visibility of the silhouette of lures/baits. Also, some bait species (eg. prawns/shrimp) are more active during the full moon, resulting in more fish activity and better fishing.The full moon (and the new moon) occur when the moon and sun are aligned, creating the greatest 'pull' upon the earth's oceans and consequently the highest and lowest tides of the lunar month. This means that the tidal flow at these times is strongest. This may necessitate the use of heavier leads in strongly tidal locations. However, it can also mean that the ambush predators, that hold in the eddies downcurrent of underwater structure are presented with a greater array of prey items, as the receding high tide has swept over a wider area than usual. This is particularly true off the beaches, where previously inaccessible gutters are opened up to fish. Lastly, in times of high tidal flow, ie. the full moon, fish may be forced to hold stationary in shelter of structure. During slack water there is an opportunity to target them as they venture out in search of prey - fishing may also be enhanced due to greater visibility at these times. Ultimately, the role of the full moon and its accompanying spring tides depends on the location and the type of fish targeted. It would be worth considering that many fish have a sensitive lateral line and acute sense of 'smell' and are perfectly capable of hitting a bait/lure in low light. Given this, it would seem that the light of the full moon enables better fishing for primarily visual predators that are known to be active at night. What those fish are depends on where you live.
