the giraffe chews its food, swallows it for processing, then visibly reguritates the semi-digested cud up their necks and back into the mouth to re-chew again. this is usually repeated several times. you will find that the giraffe is a foregut fermenter because it regurgitate's its semi-digested food and the re-chews it again. in their faeces there will usually be no plant material visible because of all the regurgitating. hope this helps =]

At first by initially chewing and softening it in the animal's first stomach (the rumen) then regurgitating the semi-digested mass (the cud) and chewing it again. Rechewing the cud is called "ruminating" the process breaks down more plant fiber for easier digestion. Other ruminating animals include cattle, goats, and sheep. After this chewing and rechewing the absorption of nutrients by the intestines is done in a normal fashion
