If you live in a small town, chances are that you will not be able to lead a successful acting career. You'll want to sign with a legit and reputable talent agency that represents actors and finds them work...much the same way a modeling agency operates. You'll need to find talent agencies in larger markets such as LA, New York, etc. However, smaller markets do have their fair share of talent agencies available. You can search for them online by the city and state you live in. Visit their websites to see how you can be considered for representation.

Start getting involved in as many acting endeavors as you can in the meantime. This includes school drama plays, theater classes, independent films--these all qualify as training and can be used to create a resume of acting experience. If you don't find success with local agencies, you'll have to move to where the action is, which is what many people end up doing. When it comes to acting, you have to go to the opportunities, they won't come to you, especially if you live in a small town no one is familiar with.
