There are two types of solar furnaces:

The first is a mini one which is just a mirror. Reflect the sun's energy to heat up a pot of tea or cook some sausages

The second is a huge array of mirrors which can power whole cities. The sun's energy is reflected to a small point where the heat heats up water which creates steam. This steam turns a turbine which powers a generator which creates elecricity
